Loveless Notes

Love(less) NoteBBC News today includes a story about a Chinese couple in their 80s who for the last few years have only communicated with one another via written notes. I have to report that this sort of behaviour is not at all uncommon, even with couples of this age, although in this country the situation would usually be brought to an end sooner, by divorce. The messages are then transposed on to solicitors' notepaper, and the expense of this is normally enough to persuade the parties to resolve matters by agreement.
