DIY Paternity Tests

As reported on BBC Newsbeat this morning, home DNA testing kits are going on sale in Boots stores across the UK. The BBC today had an excellent interview on the subject with Dr Denise Syndercombe-Court of Barts and London Medical School, which is worth a watch:


  1. It is important to note that these are not 'motherless' tests and will require the consent of the mother, unlike many other DIY tests available online. They will also, as far as I know, not be recognised by the courts, which have a list of approved testers on the Ministry of Justice website.
