June Post of the Month

I've often complained of government 'kneejerkitis': the tabloids latch on to some problem, and the government (of whatever colour) reacts by passing some rushed, ill-conceived and totally unnecessary legislation to respond to the problem (read: satisfy the tabloid readers that it is actually dealing with the matter).

Something must be done by Love and Garbage perfectly captures this government state of mind, and its consequences. Here is a sample:
"...in order to disguise the fact that we are not really doing anything, and to confirm that we are definitely not doing nothing, we have decided to rush to do something to give the impression that there is an emergency about these serious things that must be dealt with immediately."

Excellent stuff.

Something must be done
is my Post of the Month for June 2011.
