ACTION FOR CHILDREN RESPONDS TO THE CROSS-PARTY EARLY YEARS MANIFESTO
The Early Years Commission, set up jointly by the Centre for Social Justice and the Fabian Society, has published a cross-party Early Years Manifesto.
Director of policy and campaigns at Action for Children, Imran Hussain, one of the commissioners, said:
“The best investment the Government can make is to properly fund the crucial early years, yet our youngest children continue to be overlooked in government policy and funding decisions.
“Lifeline services such as children’s centres and family hubs have been hollowed out by funding cuts¹ and deprioritised by successive governments. The failure to support these services is a false economy. Investing in high quality centres and hubs which step in early to support families in every community should be a core part of the ‘levelling-up’ agenda."
